Although, I will say that I found The Hobbit to be the most readable and enjoyable of the books, so it's the one I recommend to anyone who hasn't read Tolkien's work. I watched them with my dad when I was about 11 and I've loved them ever since. I've enjoyed watching The Hobbit, and I'd like to read the books again. I might re-attempt The Silmarillion someday, but that's a summer project.
